David’s vast technical and management experience began after graduating with a BSET in Engineering Technology from the University of Memphis.  For three years thereafter, he was the Sr. Project Engineer for HI-NET Communications, a joint venture partnership between COMSAT General, and Holiday Inns. Duties included Civil Engineering requirements for 5M earth station mounts, ground and roof, system performance of MATV and CATV system integration, PC-converter box two-way performance, installation and maintenance crews, and eventually customer service for a network that encompassed over 1,100 hotel properties.

Next, David joined MCI Telecommunications as a Technical Consultant, responsible for Voice and Data designs for National Account customers.  Through gaining a complete knowledge of the technology, and becoming a highly respected member of the team, David began managing the Technical Consultants in the Mid-South area, all the while maintaining a hands-on approach to emerging technologies.  Through the next several years, David’s territory grew to encompass the Eastern US states, and 52 Technical Consultants and Regional Managers.  During this time, he was constantly meeting with customers, analyzing applications, and ensuring that his team was making the right decisions for their customers.  During his tenure as a Manager, he constantly self-taught the latest trends in the industry, as well as becoming proficient at web-authoring.  In 1998, he moved from a field manager role to a corporate position responsible for Local Service Special Assembly, pioneering an Engineering, Regulatory, Finance, Legal, and Marketing review for all “non-product” applications generating in excess of $7M monthly.

Finally, after planning to launch his own business when he turned 40, Competitive Network Solutions, Inc. was founded in 2001.  CNS, Inc. has clients ranging from small to large.   David volunteers as an advisor to the Board of Directors of the Mid-South Fair/Libertyland, he's a member of the Memphis Area High Technology Council, and volunteers with Cordova High School announcing football games and maintains various sports websites as a courtesy. He also authors and maintains a website for Advent Presbyterian Church as a courtesy as well.  David is a certified FIFA and TSSAA Soccer referee with over 1000 games officiated. He was recently honored by TSSAA by being selected to officiate the State Finals series, and has also officiated three International matches.  He holds Microsoft Certifications: MCP, MCSA, and MCTS, and Research In Motion's BCSA .

David also holds two US Patents for designing a surge protection device and has three more pending review.

As of 2005, he's not only serving the business community with services ranging from Strategic IT Planning, Carrier Management, Wired/Wireless Network Deployments, Managed PC services, HIPAA certification and "Workstation Tune-ups" (eliminating Viruses, Worms, Trojans, Spyware, and Ad-Ware), he's also writing his first book, entitled The Consumer's Guide to Technical Stuff , and anticipates completion during the 2nd quarter of 2005.  The final stage of research was done at where else, Radio Shack!  You would not believe the situations that walk through the door.

Look for The Consumer's Guide to Technical Stuff coming soon!
